THE LIZARDS

Hi there, Lizardlovers - from the lack of recent news updates you could be forgiven for thinking that The Lizards have become extinct, or at least been sunbathing on a rock for the last few months - but here's Randy with an explanation as to what's been going on in the Lizardcave - and yes, the eggs are finally starting to hatch!

"The Lizards' individual members have been taking time out to try some other projects. Bobby and Mike are in Bonnie Tyler's band (I love her two biggest hits, "Total Eclipse Of The Heart" and "It's A Heartache" - that one sounds like early Rod Stewart).

Bobby's also in Coda, a top Led Zep tribute band that will probably tour the world. And Mike also plays with Tommy James, one of the few guys to give 'bubblegum' a good name!

Pat and myself formed a pop band called "Fun Puppet" and have just completed an album of, we're proud to say, "chick rock". It's a 3-piece with a lead-singing drummer named Paul Gifford, and we've been gigging in NYC.

The Lizards' dvd is just about ready to go to the printer. Pat's added mastering to his long list of talents, but it's not a "quick" talent yet, so that's what we're waiting for.... When that gets done we'll begin, in earnest, to finish "Reptilicus Maximus" - our 5th cd
of originals - and "Archeology", our cd of covers.

We hope you haven't forgotten us, folks!"

Hello from Lizard Land, it's Randy, the bassplayer. We haven't played out since our NYC show with Cactus last year, and it's time to tell you why!

I had a very bad car accident on 19th December. Not only did I total my beautiful purple sparkle Cadillac coupe deville hot rod (arrrgggghhh!), but I broke my left thumb and also very badly broke my right ring finger. Listen to that fast bass run on track #2 from Against All Odds ("Can't Fool Myself") Well, that's the ring finger on my right hand. After much deliberation, I opted not to operate. I was told if I tried to straighten it, it might backfire, and would surely make it stiff. My main concern of course was playing bass, so I let it heal naturally. Amazingly it seems to be well on the mend and I expect to get all my chops back. See the photos HERE. There are issues, of course... at the moment I have to wear a 'glove' when I play, to stop my fingers from rubbing against each other - and my right pinky sorta gets in the way. I also had to develop thick callouses in new places. But, hey - there's nothing else I wanna do, so I'm crawling back to you all! I've been playing for longer and longer every day, and can happily report that the practicing has paid off, and I'm now fighting fit again!

We've actually been busy in the shadows. We edited and mixed 3 shows for our new dvd. Then, at our last show opening for Cactus we decided to put together a set with songs we rarely play live. We filmed it and, well, it came out great. So we're adding that to the dvd. We're 93% finished with it and that will be the next thing you get from us. We hope to do a small headline tour in Europe to promote the dvd in 2007.

We also continue working on our 'covers' cd. Did a smokin' version of Thunderbox by Humble Pie, and there are covers of Bad Co., Uriah Heep, lots of cool stuff. It's two-thirds done and a ton of fun!

We've all been busy on our own. Mike is touring with Masterplan in Europe into the spring, with our blessings! I'm in the NYC Blues Devils and Cactus, and Pat performs with the theatrical "Psycho the Clown". Bobby keeps up a gruelling practice routine which is why his chops improve every year. He tours the drum clinic circuit regularly.

We have 5 completed songs recorded for our 5th studio cd of originals, going under the working title "Reptilicus Maximus". Rest assured, we're pushing the envelope again, for your listening pleasure!

PATRICK KLEIN

Hi folks – Patrick Klein, the Lizards' guitar player here.

First, let me welcome you to our new site! It is the creative genius of the legendary Batttttty - the supreme vai-countess of rock and roll!

If you’ve wondered why it’s been so quiet here lately it’s because we have been cooking up some goodies such as this new site, and we have also finally completed the new album! Mastering is underway and cover art is nearly complete. Look for it soon. This record contains many of the new songs we have been playing live over the past year that a lot of you were asking about at the shows. And a special guest to boot!

Also underway is our live dvd compilation. Taken from three killer performances, it should give ample evidence that The Lizards "walk it like we talk it". With little or no tampering with the true performances, we're gonna let it all hang out for you. Filmed in New York, Germany, and at Sweden Rock Festival, this dvd will be packed with extra goodies, and more cameras then we've ever used. (Nine high-definition cameras in Germany!)

We have some shows lined up here in the USA in May. We will be the support act for guitar legend Uli Jon Roth. See the tour page for details. For our European fans we are working on our very first headlining tour! If all goes well we hope to be there in the fall. Even I don’t know the details yet but I’m told it’s moving forward. Hope we see you all then!

Of a slightly lower priority, our "covers" cd project is also steadily moving forward. We're creating a love letter to our childhood heroes, especially the more obscure ones. So far we've recorded songs by Stray Dog, Boomerang, Detective and Free. We'll also have some Blues and Funk on there  - including a killer version of John Lee Hooker's "I'm Mad"!

Our new live set will be mixed with some old favorites that we have revived as well as some of the new songs from the upcoming studio album. We are always writing so it’s possible we will add some completely new stuff as well.

Thanks for stopping by - and let us know if there's anything you'd like to see on the website. We have high hopes that this version will be dynamic and user-friendly! All the best!
